Lee Hyori and BoA Talk about Love
The two biggest divas in K-Pop showed how they just became ordinary women in the face of love. Lee Hyori and BoA got to meet and talk over their love lives.
The August 26 broadcast of SBS’ You and I featured BoA, the singer who recently left her post as an audition program’s judge to come back with her single Only One.
The talk session especially gathered interest for the honest conversation about relationships that went on between Lee Hyori, Jung Jae Hyung and BoA.
The three started off on the subject when BoA confessed, “I was last in a relationship two years ago.”
BoA said about her ideal type, “I don’t really have an ideal type now; I just want someone who loves only me.”
She meant that her lover had to love BoA herself, not the singer BoA or the K-Pop Star judge BoA. The singer then showed off the cute antics she said she puts on in front of her boyfriends, shouting out “ppuing ppuing” with the cute hand motions.
Love, however, is one of those things that don’t come easily for celebrities who are known so well. Their overseas schedules and frequent change in break times are some of the things that stop them from entering relationships. Lee Hyori, BoA’s senior in showbiz, had a lot to say on the matter.
She said, “If your heart tells you something, it’s best not to care about what other people might think. [Celebrities] stop themselves from doing anything because they’re celebrities, and think, ‘People may think I’m being too loud’ or ‘I might be hurt again after breaking up with this person’, but they need to loosen up a bit.”
She especially joked, “You shouldn’t be like ‘You’re the only one’. There are so many men in this world. What do you mean, Only One? He may seem like the Only One then, but there are a lot like him.”
BoA then whipped up surprise questions for Lee Hyori, who is currently in an open relationship with the guitarist Lee Sang Soon.
BoA was mostly curious about whether ideal types can change.
Lee Hyori seemed taken aback at the question, but then answered in a cool manner, “Your ideal type doesn’t change; I think it’s just that you keep defining your ideal type. You start to think, ‘This person fits me’ or ‘This person doesn’t.’”
When Lee Hyori was then asked whether she ever felt ‘this is the man’, she joked, “I feel that often. The problem is I feel it too often.”
BoA performed her promotional single Only One this day along with Stand By in a collaboration with Jung Jae Hyung.
