SHINee Fans Crowd London Airport
SHINee managed to pack an airport in London with its local fans, showing that a new Korean wave is indeed washing over the world.
SHINee left for Britain on November 1 to perform in SHINee in London, a gala concert for the opening of the London Korean Film Festival. The performance is to be held on November 3 at London’s Leicester Square Odeon West End.
SHINee was welcomed to London by its local fans as soon as the members set foot in London Heathrow Airport. Despite the fact that the group arrived in London on a weekday evening (local time), fans gathered at the airport holding placards with the members’ names and nicknames written on them, and continued to chant “SHINee” as the members passed by.
When the members could be seen coming out of the airport gate, the airport soon became crowded with girl fans gathered around to catch a glimpse of their star, and the quiet Heathrow Airport was soon filled with shouts and camera flashes, making even ordinary London citizens turn their heads to find out what was going on.
SHINee’s performance received an explosive response in the country, causing the servers of Britain’s largest theater chain Odeon to go down a minute after ticket sales started on its online reservation systems for the first time in the chain’s history. The servers stayed down for five hours, making it impossible to reserve tickets to any movies being screened in 100 theaters across Britain. With this much popularity, the performance is expected to be a sure success.
In the SHINee in London performance, SHINee plans to perform its hit songs, including Replay, Juliette, Ring Ding Dong and Lucifer, and the individual members will also be performing in solo stages. The performance is expected to gather much attention from local fans and media outlets as it is the first exclusive performance by a Korean idol group in London, and also because fans will be able to see SHINee’s hit song performances for themselves for the first time, after only being able to see the group’s performances through music videos on screen.
