“We will follow their wish,” said Mnet’s production department director Shin Hyung Kwan with regards to whether or not Ulala Session will perform at this year’s Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA).

Shin attended the reporters’ roundtable for the MAMA, held at the CGV in Seoul on November 1, and addressed concerns about Ulala Session’s ability to perform at the overseas event. Ulala Session is the frontrunner to take home this year’s Superstar K3 title, but it may be difficult for member Im Yun Taek, who is battling stomach cancer, to attend the ceremony.

When asked how he intends to prepare for this, Shin said, “If Ulala Session wins, we will take into consideration Im Yun Taek’s health and follow his and the other members’ wish to decide whether or not the group will perform at the MAMA.” He added, “If there is something he wishes to do, we will prepare a stage based on what he wants.”

The winner of Superstar K3 is awarded a 500 million won cash prize and the opportunity to perform at the MAMA. Top 3 contestant Ulala Session is currently in the running to win. However, Im, the group’s leader, is battling stage IV stomach cancer, and it may be difficult for him to perform overseas.

Season two winner Huh Gak was joined by Top 4 contestants Jang Jae In, John Park and Kang Seung Yoon at the MAMA in Macau last year.
