Frontrunner group Ulala Session made the top 3 during the October 28 live competition of Mnet’s Superstar K3.

Ulala Session chose judge Lee Seung Chul’s song, On the West Sky from the OST of the film Blue Swallow in the competition that tasked the singers with remaking the judges’ songs. The song choice drew more attention because actress Jang Jin Young who died from stomach cancer, the same illness that Lim Yun Taek is currently suffering from, starred in the movie, and sang the song along with Lee Seung Chul once.

In an interview prior to the live competition, Lee Yun Taek said, “I heard that the late Jang Jin Young liked this song. I also heard that she could have had surgery, but she didn’t have it because she didn’t want to ruin her body as a actress. I’m also a guy who was born to sing on the stage. I gain strength once I get on the stage.”

Unfortunately, he could not join rehearsals due to his health problems. But on the live stage, he looked like a professional singer. He shed his cheerful, bright image and put on a heartfelt and tough performance.

Lastly, Lee Seung Chul said, “At first I wanted to stop them from singing this song. But now that I′ve heard it, I feel it’s a good thing [that I didn’t stop them.] Even their breathing sounds moved us. I′m thankful for your sincerity.”
