Unfortunately in the same week, a much-anticipated K-Pop concert in America was delayed just days before the concert date, while actress Yoo In Na’s absence from Ji Hyun Woo’s army send-off cast a large shadow.

Stars on the Rise
1. Psy Meets With Justin Bieber’s Agency, Plans Japan Debut and Sequel Track
Psy continued on his path to global superstardom, as he was covered by CNN, made plans to head to the States to meet with Justin Bieber’s agency,, all while making plans tomake his mark in Japan.
Add to that a third straight week at number one on Billboard’s K-Pop Hot 100 and the announcement of a follow-up track and music video featuring 4minute’s Hyuna, and it looks like there’s no telling what Psy will be accomplishing next.

2. Jang Keun Suk Becomes First Korean Celebrity to be Issued Own Postage Stamps in Japan
It was a busy week for Jang Keun Suk as he celebrated his birthday in Thailand, DJed at UMF Korea in front of some 30,000 attendees and made a big donation along the way.
The whirlwind week was topped off with a major announcement that Jang Keun Suk’s own sets of stamps would be issued in Japan to mark his 20th anniversary as an actormaking it the first time a Korean star has had stamps issued in Japan.

3. SNSD Marks Five Years Together as a Group
August 5 marked a special day for SNSD and its fans as it was the group’s fifth year anniversary since its official debut.
Some of the members took time to reminisce and thank their fans and fellow members. With so much accomplished in just five years, all eyes are on SNSD to see what new heights the group will soar to next.
And with Korean culture promotional brochures featuring the group being sent to London in time for the Olympics and SNSD’s postage stamps selling out like hotcakes in the last week alone, it’s safe to say some pretty big things are in store for the group.

1. Yoo In Na is a No-Show At Ji Hyun Woo’s Military Send-Off
Ji Hyun Woo officially began his mandatory military duties this week to the dismay of fans.
Also dismayed were the fans of the fairy tale-like Ji Hyun Woo-Yoo In Na couple as the actress was noticeably absent at Ji Hyun Woo’s send-off.
The couple did manage to spend a final date together the night before Ji Hyun Woo’s enlistment. Still, it wasn’t quite the romantic send-off many fans of the couple had anticipated.

2. Police Wraps Up Investigation of Nichkhun’s DUI Case and Recommends Indictment Without Detention
The Korean police wrapped up investigation into Nichkhun’s DUI accident and announced it would hand over its findings to prosecutors sometime this week.
In it, the police recommended Nichkhun be indicted without detainment which would determine the civil suit aspect of Nichkhun’s DUI to be handled but Nichkhun’s criminal suit ongoing.

3. ‘K-Pop Super Concert in America Gets Delayed
American K-Pop fans were met with some disappointing news this week when the star-studded K-Pop concert, K-Pop Super Concert in America, unexpectedly announced its postponement just days before the day of the concert.
Though originally planned as an SBS Inkigayo special featuring the likes of SNSD, Kara, 2Pm, 2AM, SHINee, SISTAR and more, the sudden delay was attributed to a lack of preparation, among other issues.
