[Sunday Serenades: Reply 1997] Seo Ji Won – I Miss You
Seo Ji Won’s I Miss You played on the fourth episode of tvN’s Reply 1997 and blew our minds with how perfect the lyrics fit the drama′s situation.
As Tae Woong sees bit and pieces of his past love in her little sister, he begins to get confused about his feelings.
I Miss You explain just that, saying, “At first I thought it was you, because she was everything you were. Not knowing my feelings, I avoided that kid because of my pain. But now I find myself getting closer to her and can’t understand my shaking heart. Feeling sorry before being scared.”
A little about the history of this song, Seo Ji Won was a very popular teen singer in the late 90’s. However, before the release of his second album in 1996, Seo Ji Won committed suicide at the young age of 20 by overdosing on drugs.
In his last letter, he expressed his fears of failure and hoped that through his death, his second album will be successful.
Fulfilling his wishes, Seo Ji Won’s second album Tears did receive much acclaim, making several of the tracks, including I Miss You in this album to climb to the top of music charts without the original artist performing them once.
The song later went onto being recreated by recent artists, like Tei.
When I coincidentally see her side, why does my throat go dry?
Because it’s you who is sleeping deeply in the sky, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you so much more.
If you are seeing me at this pathetic state, please tell me where to go.
