Lee Hyori is known for speaking her mind, no matter the situation, so it′s no surprise that she′s taken to her Twitter to persuade her fans to vote.

On October 24, the singer re-tweeted the message written by writer Lee Oi Soo, reading, “Youngsters, don′t you have complaints about society? If so, cast a vote. The society must change. We can no longer pass over injustice, corruption, deception and hypocrisy. Your vote will be a candle to dispel the darkness of the society.”

Earlier, Hyori also replied to cartoonist Kang Full′s message to encourage participation in the elections.

Though many responded positively to the messages, some expressed their anger and annoyance, causing the singer to tweet, "Bunch of ajeossis (middle-aged men) keep sending me threatening messages. Sobbing."

In the end, Hyori got her gumption back and tweeted, "I just meant that people should participate in the vote to choose a mayor as a citizen of Seoul. So why some people are saying my comment is courageous or cussing at me? Is it wrong for me to say such a thing?”

To this, Twitter users praised her for her reasonable comments, saying, “That’s the Lee Hyori that we know.”

Recently, Lee Hyori has been using her celebrity to help out various social issues, getting named a ′socialtainer′ (a celebrity who openly comments on social issues and participates in social movements). She′s most notably transformed herself into an animal rights activist, declaring her vow to become a vegetarian and refusing to wear furs.
