[Video] ZE:A’s Im Si Wan Cameos as a Man in Uniform in ‘Reply 1997’
As a drama full of laughs, nostalgia, and cameos, tvN’s Reply 1997 featured a short, but noted appearance by ZE:A’s Im Si Wan.
Im Si Wan acted as the ROTC officer who meets Si Won (Jung Eun Ji) online and wishes to meet up with her. Si Won then gives him her home phone number, with hopes that she can finally meet her ideal type – a man in uniform.
At the same time, an important soccer match between South Korea and Japan is airing, and the family laments that they forgot to order chicken and would not be able to order any due to the countless orders that are pouring in because of the game.
However, a deliveryman mistakenly delivers to Si Won’s house and the parents take it, saying that it was okay, just this once.
At the end of the episode, the phone rings, and everyone freezes, thinking it is the owner of the chicken shop. Yoon Jae (Seo In Guk) courageously answers the phone and apologizes, receiving compliments from everyone else for being straightforward and emphasizing fair play.
But a twist shows that it was not the chicken shop owner, but the ROTC officer, who had called with hopes of talking to Si Won. Yoon Jae had taken the opportunity to shut the date offer down, as he is developing a small crush on Si Won.
Yoon Jae says, “There’s no more fair play.”
Episodes 3 and 4, aired on July 31, received a rating of 1.2 percent, which is relatively high for cable TV shows. Reply 1997 took the number one spot for shows in the same time slot.
