Moon Chae Won Reveals Why She Left Painting for Film
Though Moon Chae Won is a respected actress now, she was once on the path to become a different kind of artist.
Moon was originally accepted into the Western Painting major in Chugye University for the Arts, but later left school to join Kim Jong Hak Production and become an actress.
In an interview with enews, Moon shared why she chose to drop one from of art for another.
“I was affected a lot in life by the characters or energy of the actors after watching films. So I started this career. I was greatly touched by how I could receive such a big present in such a short two hour span. Inside a film, there are artists and musicians, and other staff members as well, but I desired to take on the job of the actor, because they′re the ones that can be seen directly."
“I’m still affected a lot [by films],” Moon added. “I watch movies when I want to wake up, and when I want to become serious or when I want to laugh, I am helped by the appropriate films. It’s meaningful that I can continue to participate in those films and that I can give these emotions to someone else.”
Her life has been filled with film and its various meanings. She cried and thought about the meaning of life after watching Life Is Beautiful on TV when she was in middle school, and after watching the French film La Vie En Rose, she thought that she would like to act in that role after she had gained more experience, and even went on to name her official fanclub ‘La Vie En Rose.′
Moon Chae Won is now again considering ways to approach her goals, as while she receives many love calls for advertisements and photo spreads, she is looking through various scenarios for her next piece, aiming to continue the success she enjoyed with The Princess′ Man and Bow and Arrow.
