BLACKPINK Revealed to Have No Leader
YG Entertainment′s Yang Hyun Suk producer has stated that the agency′s first girl group in 7 years, BLACKPINK, will have "no leader."
BLACKPINK held their debut showcase on August 8 and met with reporters. After the release of BLACKPINK′s music videos, Yang Hyun Suk producer appeared on stage to answer questions with the members.
During this time, Yang Hyun Suk was asked about who the leader was and the producer replied, "There is no leader." He stated, "It is impossible to select a leader because the 4 members have been friends for so long. All 4 members could become the leader."
Yang Hyun Suk was then asked about how BLACKPINK differs from the agency′s girl group 2NE1, and he answered, "I wasn′t intentional in trying to create a difference. I just tried to create a good group in the style of YG."
Yang Hyun Suk, who answered many questions in place of the members, revealed, "These members are having their first press conference today. That′s why I am here. I have the heart of a father who came to their child′s first day of elementary."
BLACKPINK is a 4 member group that consists of Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé. Their average age is 19 and the members have been training with YG anywhere between 4-6 years. The group will begin official promotions after releasing their first single album Square One on August 8.
